AFAIK, you can't. SAS itself provides no mechanism for setting a password, and you can't run Excel on a UNIX commandline (it's Windows-only).

My personal take: if you want to secure your data, don't use Excel. Put your data in a safe location (directory with limited permissions, access through network share or SSH).
