Did you still use PROC IMPORT to read in the CSV files? You really do need to post the PROC CONTENTS output as I initially requested so we know what your computer/system is seeing.

I used a Data step to import the cvs file.

With the data you presented, the code WORKS, period. So it has to be in the data. Get to really know your data, inside out.
