Back to the school days, my instructor just spelled out the literal meaning: interval check , and interval next. I inherited that.

What an odd question?  I tend to go with "Int" followed by C then K, or N then X.  They aren't real words so don't have any pronunciation.

I've heard INTCK pronounced IN-TICK, which at first I thought was referring to a function I did not know.

These are hard ones to pronounce so I don't try.

Int-C-K  (int-cee-kay) and Int-N-X (int-en-ex).

I say LIBNAME as in lib-erty, you say LIBNAME as in lib-rary - aren't accents wonderful!

Now you're just being silly.

Obviously you can't pronounce every crazy mixture of consonancts, but I think the OPs question is valid and interesting.

I hear people talking about "ess-ay-ess software" (vs "sass") or using the "jay-em-pee product" (vs "jump"). Knowing how most people pronounce a string of characters is important, even if there is variation.

You say dah-ta, I say day-ta...

@ChrisNZ: probably! Maybe you say LEEBNAME or is that the Aussie version?!
