that is it I just want to know if I am wasting my time trying to run SAS Enterprise Guide code in SAS?

if it's straight SAS code it should be fine. 

If it uses a lot of the EG macros there may be issues. Basically you have to try and see what happens.

All our code is developed in EG, and run in batch mode. Unless you make use of EG specifics (as @Reeza already mentioned), you should be fine.
