I'm a big fan of SASAUTOS, rather than %include. If managed carefully your SASAUTOs search order can cope with both Production and Development versions of the same macro. If you want your Dev versions you can do something like this:
options SASAUTOS = (devautos, prodautos, sasautos); Then your Dev version macro is picked up before the Prod one.
The biggest negative for me with %include of macros is the clogging up of the SAS log....I know this can be controlled with nosource2 but I still think SASAUTOS is tidier.
