I would like to remove the character located a the Second position of a string in the character variable IDCODE.

 

Do you know how to do that ?

   newname=cats(substr(name,1,1),substr(name,3));
run;

Maybe something like:

idcode = cats(first(idcode), substr(idcode, 3));
