Have a short presentation of your most recent work ready when applying for a job; it's OK if you do it right out of memory, a few sentences should suffice.

If it's your first application for real work, be honest about that.

Or basically state what the business problem was, what the SAS problem was, how you solved it, and the results. You may want to touch a bit on the techniques used in SAS and any relevant things you learned. If you've leveraged previous work or did everything from scratch is also worth mentioning. If you had support or help be clear about this as well - ie if your boss or colleague told you what approach to use you need to mention this as it clarifies your role in the project. 

And as @Kurt_Bremser mentioned, you should have a public portfolio anyways.
