How do I handle ERROR: DATA STEP Component Object failure?

I keep encountering an error stating that I have a DATA STEP component object failure with the following code:

DATA 	HW;
	SET 	= Vitals; 
	MAP 	= (SBP+2*DBP)/3;
	RUN; 

I am trying to manipulated two variables from the data set (SBP and DBP) to create a third new variable, MAP, but I keep getting an error message that "The variable Vitals is not an object." Not sure where to go from here, thank you!

The SET statement does not have an equal sign.
