How do I get rid of level 0 stats in proc means output

This should be a simple question, but the documentation is eluding me. 

How do I drop the _TYPE_ column in the output data set? 

proc means data=repeats mean max mode;
var count;
class serial_number;
output out=stats( rename=(_freq_=HW_events) where=(_type_=1) drop=_TYPE_) mean=Ave_repeats mode=Mode_repeats max=Max_repeats;
run;

I get an error 

ERROR: Variable _type_ is not on file WORK.STATS.

If I remove the other options, _TYPE_ drops.

proc means data=repeats mean max mode nway; 

then you don't need WHERE= in the output statement 

Alternative: use the statement

ways 1;

in your PROC MEANS and again you don't need the WHERE=
