Function to recognize an email address

Is there a function to recognize whether or not a string represents an email address in correct format?

Thanks for your suggestion, but I think I only need something that works with 99% of all the e-mail addresses out there, so I think something like this would do, under the first section, "How to Find or Validate an Email Address":
