I am creating a flat file from a csv file. Missing numeric values are translating as periods (.) in the flat file. How do I grammatically convert the periods (.) in sas to empty spaces so that the flat file no longer has periods for missing values? I need spaces for missing values. Thanks.
Use
Options missing=' ';
before the steps where you want a space instead of . for missing values.
I recommend resetting to the default period right after with
options missing='.';
You can use any single character for missing values as needed but take care about resetting as things can get very confused.
