Hi Folks,
I am currently investigating an issue that is happening for users when they are trying to do the PROC import with datafile parameter containing an excel file which has Japanese characters in its name.
We are using SAS 9.4M6 and have UTF8 as the SASApp workspace server.
ERROR: Error opening XLSX file -> /sas/....//<Japanese characters>.xlsx . It
is either not an Excel spreadsheet or it is damaged. Error code=8000100F
Requested Input File Is Invalid
Can someone please explain and suggest how to get rid of this?
A couple of questions:
I want to know if it is the filename that is the issue, or the file itself.
If it is the filename that's the issue, I suggest opening a track with SAS Technical Support
Hi @AMSAS,
Yes, the file opens fine within Excel. It imports fine when we change the name to non-Japanese keywords. So, issue seems to be happening when we try to import the excel file with Japanese keywords in its name. We also tried to use fewer or other Japanese characters in the name, but it did not help.
I will raise a case with SAS Technical Support now.
Thanks!
Please let us know the answer. This question of utf-8 characters in filenames on Unix not working has come up before, but I could not generate a search term that would find the previous discussion to see if there was a recommended resolution.
