Do we have an official certification path diagram, just like This Article ? A Guide to tell you if you want to get one certain certification, you must have some prerequisite certifications first. I know I can get this from different certification exam pages, but I prefer to view all certification in one page.

Hi:

It is unlikely that you would pursue or even need to see ALL the certifications in one page. It is unlikely, for example, that someone pursuing the Clinical Trials Programming certification (which is a solid programming credential) would also pursue any of the Administration credentials. An Administrator, whether of SAS Viya or of the BI Platform, is not operating at the same level as a programmer, wouldn't take the same courses and most likely would not be interested in any of the programming or analytic credentials.

The summary shown on that page is fairly accurate. There have been some changes that they didn't really update. We have a web page on our site for EVERY certification credential that shows you the required certifications before you earn that credential. There are only a few that require a prior certification. For example, the Base Programming Specialist credentials is required before you earn the Advanced Programming credential or the Clinical Trials Programmer credential. (BTW, the Accelerated Clinical Trials Programmer exam has been retired, so that part of your article needs to be updated with a review of our web page.) The Statistical Business Analyst credential recommends 2 classes are preparation: Statistics 1 and Predictive Modeling using Logistic Regression. However, although that credential does not require a previous certification exam, the classes that prepare you for the Statistical Business Analyst exam also have prerequisite levels of knowledge. For example, before you take Statistics 1, we recommend you understand the basics of SAS programming such as we teach in Programming 1 and before you take the Predictive Modeling course, we recommend that you understand more about SAS programming to the level of the Programming 2 and the Statistics 1 courses.

Here's the link for our main certification web site: https://www.sas.com/en_us/certification.html . Click on the top menu for Credentials to see all the topic areas and then click on the name of the credential you are interested in or want more information about to review the most current information for that credential.

Some of the credentials do have comparisons, but they are mostly apples to apples comparisons, Not apples to bananas or apples to oranges -- you won't find a comparison of the Data Scientist credential to the Base Programmer credential, for example, those are not comparable credentials. Most of the people who pursue the Data Scientist credential will have some experience with SAS programming, but they may or may not have earned the Base Programmer credentials in the past.

One thing you can do to narrow down the credentials to review is to first search on sites like Monster.com and Indeed.com to see job postings in your field or industry of interest. See what skills or certifications are required for jobs in your field. There's a difference in requirements between "must have experience with SAS Macro Language" or "must be familiar with PROC REG and PROC LOGISTIC" and "must hold a Data Scientist certification credential" or "Base Programmer Specialist credential required". A review like this should help you narrow down your field of credential choices from the many that we offer to the few that are appropriate for your job goals.
