My understanding is Dictionary.tables and sashelp.vtable are the same. Am i right? If yes, I am using sashelp.vtable to retrieve certain information about the metadata. However, I am confused having seen two kinds of variables in the sashelp.vtable dataset. One has a name "Number of logical Observations" and the other with the name "Number of Physical Observations".
1. What is the difference between the two?
2. Which one is actually denotes the count of observations?
If you look at the additional variable "Number of Deleted Observations" where logical and physical vary I think you'll get a better understanding of what is going on.
I believer you are likely looking for Logical for further processing.
Since are there are two types of counts then the count desired depends on what your are doing.
Unless you are doing manual operations on your data, such as delete row in Viewtable, you'll likely have both values the same.
