My SAS EG gave me headaches since my first day on SAS EG. If I put the cursor somewhere in the editor and type, the lower case letters I input will show at a random location. For example, if I want to type something (eg. letter d) in the highlighted area, then all lowercase 'd' appeared at a random place. ('dddd' appeared in front of '711700' in the screenshot)

But, if I use uppercase, no issue at all.

I tried checking/unchecking some settings in 'Editor Options', but the issue is still existing. My computer doesn't have this issue outside of SAS.

Thank you for your help!

Hi @yoyoslc2008,

Do you experience this issue on another machine or do any of your colleagues have the same issue on their own machines or if they try using your machine?

If everyone else is OK then it might be your machine or account settings, although I can't think of an account setting where a jumping cursor would be an option(!)

If it only happens on your machine then it might need to be set up again, or it could even be a hardware issue, which is less likely, but "hardware eventually fails and software eventually works."

If you haven't already reported it to your internal support team, then try that, otherwise it would be time for SAS Technical Support, as advised by @andreas_lds.

Kind regards,

Amir.

EG 7.1 is really old, used it some years ago and didn't see the special effects that you see. i would contact tech support.

Thank you for your quick response! I'm the only one who has this issue. It shows on my two office computers. I will contact tech support. Thank you! @Amir @andreas_lds

It wouldn't do any harm to reinstall EG to see if that helps, especially since it is only happening on your PCs. Does changing your mouse help?

Thank you. I just switched to a new wired Dell mouse. Let me test this. The old mouse(logitech M325c) has been used for at least 4 years. I never thought about this since everything was fine if I switched to uppercase in SAS.
