Can I create a format to change . to blanks?

I don't wanna see . for the missing numerical data.

I did a simple proc format and it doesnt seem to work:

proc format;

value blank

. = ' ';

run;

data datasetname;

set datasetname;

format var1 var2 var3 var4 blank.;

run;

Thanks for your help Smiley Happy
