Hello Experts,

I'm wondering if there is an easiest method to convert the character data to numeric (without applying the substr function). The data is:

Thank you very much for your help !

Since these seem to be dates (although in VERY STUPID format with 2-digit years!), use INPUT with DDMMYY8.:

data test;
chardata = "17/02/22";
numdata = input(chardata,ddmmyy8.);
format numdata yymmdd10.;
run;
