Announcement: saspytest - the new unit testing framework for SAS code

Testing SAS programs just became super easy.

I’m excited to share my weekend project with the world: saspytest, now available as open source.

The Python package combines saspy as the SAS execution engine with pytest as the testing framework. It automatically manages SAS sessions and state, handles code submission and errors, and provides prebuilt assertions for fast, reliable test results. It works with both SAS 9 and SAS Viya.

Install directly via:

pip install saspytest

saspytest also includes a specialized AI skill to help you write your first tests — making it even easier to get started.
