what kind of method is is using the Fastknn procedure?

I am using for project now the procedure Fastknn.

i can choose as method=APPROXIMATE | EXACT.

But the documentation doesn't describe which method it use. like as in proc distance. so my question is which distance method is Fastknn is using.

exampple: 

Euclidean distance, Squared Euclidean distance, shape distance, chebychev

my colleague told me as well. it was mentioned in Details of documentations. sorryabout. 

P.S. Proc Fastknn is incredible fast.  the procedure create for me a dataset of 159 billion rows with the distnance and make the decision of which is the nearest in only 900 seconds.
