explorer window - finding variables

I didn't really know which forum to put this in. This is certainly the wrong one but I can't see a better one.

If I open a sas dataset in explorer I want to be able to move to the variable I am looking for instead of scrolling through. (I have hundreds of variables.)

Unfortunately, it appears that SAS VIEWTABLE UI has no "FIND" command equivalent and when Ctrl-F (FIND command keystroke) is entered, the WHERE filter window is displayed, instead.

There were a lot of conveniences in the old SAS/FSP product viewers FSView and FSEdit, including the command
=variableName
which took the display to the named variable.
Without that in ViewTable, you're unlucky.

Try the hide/Unhide option on the ViewTable Data menu
It might help you to reduce the list of columns to something manageable.

In UNIX the FSView window supports the Move function which displays that column. This is one of the reasons I have rearranged the order of columns in a dataset. If they are alphabetical, they are easier to find.
