array or proc tranpose

If i want to transpose a dataset that has millions of records which method wolud be efficient enough either a proc tranpose or arrays.

You have to provide more info.  How many variables before and after the desired transpose and is there a by variable.

transpose might like to hold the entire file in memory. That will cause problems for very large data.

If you know the data structure, you are that step ahead of proc transpose and will probably make a more successful transpose in a data step.
