Is there a way to have the X command results redirect to the SAS log?

I'm not an experienced Unix user - so if there is something else I can then your suggestion is welcome.

When you sas 'results' that could mean a lot of different things. Especially since a great deal can be done with the X statement. The automatic macro variable &SYSRC returns the success or failure of the X statement.

Instead of the X statement, use a pipe. See Reading from and Writing to UNIX Commands (PIPE).
