SAS Development Server

Hi, I need help is setting up the following.
We have a Production server and on the same server we would like to have development environment server too. May be we can share the metadata
I dont have a clear idea from where to start, I had searched net but did not find link to proceed.
Can someone please help me in this regard.

Best practice is NOT to share metadata between environments.
What you do is define your metadata in dev, and the migrate it to prod, probably using partial promotion (export/import). To initialize the dev env you can use full promotion using the Metadata Server plugin in SAS management console.
