Hi,
Can anybody explian this program:
data work.bp;
input variable$ type$ len label$;
datalines;
Diabp num 8 Diolastic blood Pressure
Pno Char 4 Patient no
sysbp num 8 Systolic blood pressure
;
run;
ods select Extremeobs;
proc univariate data=work.bp;
var Diabp;
by pno;
run;
Yes.
You have a datastep which reads in some data from datalines.
Then a proc univariate is run.
The bit you are probably confused with is the ods select. What happens is behind the scenes with procedures like univariate, is that certain tables are created. You can see what each procedure creates by putting:
ods trace on;
Before your procedure.
This will show in the log each object created by the procedure, giving the name and some other information. You can then tell SAS to keep those objects by using the:
ods select <objectname>;
