what is the purpose of ACROSS variable of define in PROC REPORT? can any one explain with an example. thanks in advance.
Hi:
Consider this example. SASHELP.CLASS is a file of 19 observations. You should be able to run this code and observe the difference between the ACROSS usage for the SEX variable and using GROUP as the usage. Basically, ACROSS usage makes a column going across the report row for each unique value of the variable that has the ACROSS usage specified.

proc report data=sashelp.class;
column age sex height;
define age / group;
define sex / group;
define height / mean "Avg Height";
run;
proc report data=sashelp.class;
column age sex,height;
define age / group;
define sex / across;
define height / mean "Avg Height";
run;
