I am using PROC REPORT to generate an xls file using the ExcelXP tagset.  When I open the .xls file via Excel version 2010, the date appears as a date, but Excel does not recognize the data as a date.  How can I pass the date format to excel. I have tried multiple styles and formats and have been unable get Excel to see the cell as a date.  I would like to be able to use sort and filter functions in Excel on the date field, but I am unable to.
