hi guys,

i read some articles about how sas match merges and came to  a little confusion now.So i know that when SAS reads from sets then it retains the values of all variables of that set in the PDV from the current observation. But what actually happens if  that set is grouped by one variable.SAS only retains the values in the PDV within a "group" and  sets the values to missing just before the first observation of each "by group" only?

Do i make sense?
