Hello,

I imported an excel workbook that contains dates. SAS imported them using the format date9. However, when I go to use the datepart function, I get 0 for every observation.

Any help in getting SAS to read the dates correctly? I need to extract the year and month of each entry.

Thanks,

datepart() -> converts DATETIME variables to date variables

year()-> extracts year from date variable

month()-> extracts month from date variable

YYMMN6. format will change the format from date9. (01Jan2012) to 201206.

format your_date yymmn6.;
