Hi all,

i'm trying to format a day in the week as "14Jul2011" and use a macro variable to write a code.

I know how to format it as '14Jul2011'd but looking for a way to automate this for the date to be convertered automatically when the code is run.

I am a new user to SAS and my knowledge is limited.

Is there an easier way to format the date?

Any help is much appreciated.

cheers,

In order for anyone to help, I think that you're going to have to provide an example of what you are trying to do.

You can format a variable at run-time by using the PUTN function:

x =  '14Jul2011'd;

y = putn(x, "DATE9.");
