Share your code and it may help clarify what you want to accomplish....some possibilities:

1) you have a SAS variable and you want to apply a SAS output format? Use a FORMAT statement or an FMT= parameter on an ATTRIB statement.

2) you want to decompile a SAS-distributed format processing logic in your program? Not normally possible.

3) some other type of requirement?

Is your mean to locate a defined format.

[pre]
libname fmt 'c:\';
options fmtsearch=(fmt);
