Hello,

I'm trying to make data sets that look like this.

YEAR_MonthClassStudentDistinct Count
2014ALLALL100
2014_01AALL50
2014_01BALL50
2014_01A125
2014_01A225
2014_01B125
2014_01B225

I'm currently just using a bunch of proc SQL statements and then using a data step to union them all back together. I was wondering if you all knew of a SAS procedure that will generate the same results but with less code, as you can imagine the code gets pretty redundant as the count of classification variable increases. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I think you forget part of the story.

What do you mean?

I would be helpful to describe the input.

You can get what you want with PROC SUMMARY;

proc summary;

  class year_month class student;

  output out=counts;

  run;
