ControlU and ControlL options in Proc MIXED

Hello,

I would like to know what are the hypotheses between these options. Is it this or the reverse :
1) H1 : product > control and H0 : product < = control for controlU option ?
2) H1 : product < control and H0 : product > = control for controlL option ?
