Hello folks.. I have a prblem with the SQL procedure;

I have submitted the program below but consistently get an error

proc sql;

select Gender

sum (Salary) as Total_Salary

from Work.staff

Group by Gender;

quit;

The error message is as follows

sum (Salary) as Total_Salary

     ---

     22

     76

ERROR 22-322: Syntax error, expecting one of the following: !, !!, &, (, *, **, +, ',', -, /,

              <, <=, <>, =, >, >=, ?, AND, BETWEEN, CONTAINS, EQ, EQT, GE, GET, GT, GTT, LE,

              LET, LIKE, LT, LTT, NE, NET, OR, ^=, |, ||, ~=.

ERROR 76-322: Syntax error, statement will be ignored.

I need help.

SQL requires commas between variables on select and similar list type instructions (order by or group by)

select Gender ,

sum (Salary) as Total_Salary

from Work.staff
