Hi,

I am a business student using the SAS software frequently. The SAS version provided by my university is SAS 9.1.1 and SAS 9.2, and most of the PCs are Win XP 32-bit.

My question is, Can I have SAS Foundation/Base (whichever version, SAS 9.1.3 or SAS 9.2) on my laptop that runs on the pre-installed 32-bit Win 7? If the 32-bit Win7 didn't support SAS 9.1.3 or SAS 9.2 Foundation, then would it mean that I must downgrade Win7 to WinXP on the laptop? I am just interested in SAS Foundations/Base and not SAS Enterprise (I myself have never used SAS Enterprise before, so I am not familiar with it).

Thanks a lot for taking time to respond

There are several flavors of Win 7, 32 bit, so you need to consult this document to be sure.

You school IT support should be able to help you.

Thanks a lot. I was able to install SAS 9.2 Foundation on Win7 32-bit.

My laptop has a 4GB RAM. Should I upgrade it to 8GB given I am working with huge data sets (smallest one is 5GB, others having between 15-40GB). What memory do you guys often have for SAS on the laptop?

Thanks a lot
