For teaching with SAS/IML in 'desk calculator mode', I tell students to start with

proc iml;

   reset print log;

   A = {1 2, 3 4};

so that their statements and output are directed to the log file where they can see the input together with the output.

This doesn't work in SAS 9.3 (under Windows 7), where all output is in

HTML and seen in the Results Viewer.

Is there someway to restore the previous behavior?  I tried

ods listing on;

proc iml;

   reset print log;

but that has no effect.

As well, HTML format for tables, while it may work well for standard IML stuff where only main

results are printed, is really confusing for this use by students, e.g.,

print A (t(A));

thx,

-Michael

Use

ODS LISTING;

(don't say "ON").

Yes, HTML mashes matrices together into a big table. Also, HTML has no concept of RESET SPACES=4. I've started using commas more: print A, (t(A));
