Hi All!

I want to learn SAS . Which is the better way ? To buy the SAS Learning Edition and teach yourself thru books or join a proper institute?

Thanks in advance

Let me see if I can help here. First, you need to decide how you learn best. For me, I like to be in a group so that I can learn from other people. I know lots of other people who like to learn by trial-and-error. If you like to try out things and learn that way, Learning Edition is a great tool.

You may also want to look at some of the free tutorials that are part of the Self-Pace E-learning offering from SAS. You can find all of these on support.sas.com at http://www.sas.com/apps/elearning/elearning_category_welcome.jsp You can also locate classroom training opportunities by going to this page http://support.sas.com/training/ and selecting the SAS office in your area.

The last option that I'll suggest is to visit http://www.sascommunity.org. You may find users, consultants, or user group activities in your area. Good luck.

There are also a number of good books out there that can help teach the fundamentals of SAS.

One that we have had great success with in introducing non-programmers to SAS is "The Litle SAS Book, a Primer" by Lora Delwiche and Susan Slaughter. It is available through SAS Publishing.
