What is the exact difference between Element and Epoch in SDTM?

Element:
In a study you will have treatment groups.
For example, consider drugA, drugB.
For single treatment group drug A will have elements like "SCREENING", "TREATMENT", "FOLLOW-UP".
Similarly, for drug B it will have elements.

EPOCH:
Every study will have EPOCH.
The purpose is to identify, in which part of the study the patient is present.
This is used for a trial as a whole.
