Use Case | An analysis of long-term worldwide extreme event records using AI and machine learning techniques will reveal valuable insights for nuclear safety. The study may identify trends in various natural hazards (hydrological, meteorological, drought, wildfire, etc.), uncover correlations between hazards of different types, analyze hazard characteristics and affected world regions, and estimate probability of occurrence and induced risk to nuclear installations. One of the most critical challenges in the energy sector ⚡as part of #SASHackathon 2024 is the Natural Hazard ⚠ assessment for nuclear facility site selection. In an age where energy demands are higher than ever, the safety and sustainability of nuclear facilities are paramount. The team that worked on the IAEA challenge has taken a data-driven approach to analyze 🔍vulnerabilities and assess risks using cutting-edge technology, with a commitment to securing our future💡 The Team re-examined 🔄the data from the perspective of planning future nuclear facilities or potentially retrofitting existing ones 🏢 that are experiencing different hazard conditions and patterns than when they were constructed 30 or more years ago.
The results obtained by the #SASHackathon team are very promising 🆗 and certainly deserve further investigation and analysis ➡At the end of this experience, the team looks forward to collaborating again in the coming months to continue discovering even more valuable and relevant information. 🙌👏
