Abstract

JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) is an open standard file format and data interchange format used for some of the same purposes as XML. Information about JSON is readily available on the internet.

Starting in SAS 9.4TS1M4, you can copy SAS data sets to JSON files and read JSON files into SAS data sets.

Copying SAS data sets to JSON files with PROC JSON can be pretty straightforward. Reading JSON files into SAS data sets can be simple or complex depending on the layout of the JSON file. This presentation provides some examples of copying data between SAS and JSON files, and discusses how copying JSON files into SAS could be automated in some cases.
