Hi everyone,

I have a dataset which has 17854 distinct levels of zipcodes spread across USA . Is there any function in SAS or any method using which I can reduce the number of levels ? I need to reduce it to less than 500 distinct levels.

Thanks and Regards,

Minal

There is a whole category in the SAS docu for Zip code related functions.

SAS(R) 9.4 Functions and CALL Routines: Reference, Second Edition

You could use a function which returns the state based on a zip code. That would allow you to group them.

You could use the scf groupings (see: USPS.com® - Learn About Integrating with USPS APIs )
