Hi

We have our machines locked down pretty strictly here at work so our "Check for Updates" is failing on Enterprise Guide.  I am having a hard time finding the IP/Port combination for the update server it is trying to connect to.  Does anyone know the IP/Port combo for this server so i can use this feature.  Also if the actual download comes from a different IP/Port after the check do you know that as well?

Thanks for any help.

EG's Check for Updates feature queries the xml files from the following locations (depending on version) to determine the latest updates available and where they are located:

http://ftp.sas.com/techsup/download/hotfix/HF2/BIRD/eguide_v3.xml (EG 7.13 HF8 and later 7.13, EG 7.15 and later)

http://ftp.sas.com/techsup/download/hotfix/HF2/BIRD/eguide_v2.xml (EG 7.11 HF5 and later 7.11, 7.12 HF1 and later 7.12, 7.13 prior to HF8)

http://ftp.sas.com/techsup/download/hotfix/HF2/BIRD/eguide_712.xml (EG 7.12 with no hotfix)

http://ftp.sas.com/techsup/download/hotfix/HF2/BIRD/eguide.xml (EG 7.11 prior to HF5)

However, I would second @Kurt_Bremser's caution for most users, since this is getting into the internals.

Hi @dakuwan

I have seen a SAS Note before that provides the host name and port for the SAS update server. But for the life of me I cannot find it now, but I know it exists. Meanwhile, the below note explains how to channel the updates through your corporate proxy, if you use one.

Will that maybe help ?

In a corporate environment, central IT is also responsible for keeping software up-to-date. Let them handle their reponsibilities.

If they are that security-minded, installing (or updating) software on your own can be a major offense.

We are the IT department and will be doing the updates but the way the setup is we've determined getting the check for updates to work is the easiest way to keep EG up to date.  Before any changes are run on a machine administrative credentials are needed so users can check for updates all they want but only we could apply them.

Thanks
