Hi,

I'm currently working at a site that has SAS/EG 4.1 and the only way I can view datasets is the spreadsheet style, many rows at a time style.

The datasets I am working with have many columns, eg 50 columns. When attempting to view output in the standard way in SAS/EG, it is very difficult to concentrate on a given record. I do know that I can restrict and/or hide columns and also re-arrange columns on the fly. However, this method of viewing wide datasets is not satisfactory. Often I need to look at all the data for a given row, maybe even print it out, in order to compare it to another row which is not necesaarily adjacent to it.

For the older SAS users (!) using this forum I am looking for a way within SAS/EG 4.1 of viewing a dataset one record at a time where the whole record is laid out on a single page just like Proc FSBrowse does and, at a pinch, the way ViewTable in SAS9.1.x does when you turn on Form View.

I am sure that I have seen reference somwhere to an Add-In to SAS/EG 4.1 which gives form view when looking at the data of a dataset.

Ideally I would love someone to say "It's already available in SAS/EG 4.1 you just click on.........." However, does anyone have any ideas ?

Many thanks.

There is an example custom task that does something like this -- it's called the "Observation Editor" and it's linked from http://support.sas.com/eguide -- click on the Custom Tasks link.
