Hello,

When you go in File, then select Import Data, then I select an Excel file. Thereafter a new window open then when I click on next, I receive the following error message.

The selected file may appear to be a Microsoft Excel 2007 binary file
or later. To allow access to the data contained in this
file, one of the following two Microsoft products must be installed on this machine.

1) Microsoft Excel 2007 or later
2) Microsoft Office System Driver (AEC) 2007 or later.

You can download Office System Driver, free of charge, from the website
from Microsoft by going to www.microsoft.com and searching for 'Microsoft Access Database Engine'

Notes:
Office and Office System Driver are both available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

In order for the import data task to be used, the office driver that is installed must
match that of Enterprise Guide, currently 64-bit.

How can we solve this issue?

1) Make sure that have a 64-bit version of Excel 2007 or later installed

or

2) Down load the 64-bit Microsoft Office System Driver from the link provided.

The message is pretty clear.

Either of these should provide a systemic solution.

Another is to save the file as CSV or other delimited text file and use different options to import that file.

I think you're getting this message while trying to read an XLSB file? SAS Enterprise Guide uses MS Office components to read that for you, and those components need to be installed and the same bitness as SAS Enterprise Guide.  So, if you're running 32-bit EG, you need 32-bit MS Office.  If running 64-bit EG, you need 64-bit MS Office -- or at least the MS Office data access components.

Other file types like XLSX don't have this requirement, as EG and SAS can read them directly.

Depending on the version of Enterprise Guide you are using, the SAS note below may help:
