I occasionally get the following error: unable to open file ... as a valid project file. The error message is below.
I'm using sas EG, The project file is ~ 50 megs.
The sas technical support suggested the following, however, I'm not sure that it helps:
Below Project got saved in C:/ Temporary Location, where files get deleted in regular intervals. Please save your file in D:/ only.
Any help to resolve this would be appreciated. The error message follows.
Unable to open file \\Client\C$\SAS\CN FTON\fname.egp as a valid project file
1) Don't use blanks in pathnames
2) Don't use special characters ($) in pathnames!!
3) Instead of working directly from a network share, copy the project file to your local desktop, and save it back to the share (Windows Explorer) when you're finished. I've noticed that EG can do weird things to project files if the network connection to a resource is not 100% stable.
BTW keep in mind that a project file is zipped. 50MB zipped size points to a real monster. My project files rarely grow beyond a few 100 K.
PS I moved the question to the Enterprise Guide community.
