Hi

We are planning to migrate to 9.2 .Also changing env from windows to unix.

Please could some expert advise on plan to proceed.

Should we first promote then migrate or vice vesra.

Also it would be great if a checklist could be provided on the critical components to be taken care of.

Warm Regards

Well, it depends on many things, such as the nature of your SAS installation/environment, applications, metadata etc.

There are loads of documentation and papers on support.sas.com. I suggest to look at these as a starting point.

If you feel that you have complex environment (multiple servers, combination of DI, BI and analytics, or have a high level of availability requirements, I suggest that you contact SAS (or other consultancy) to get help for migration plan.

Again, what does you SAS environment look like?

If you have lot of scripts with search paths, Windows specific options etc, you need to analyze what changes is needed.

Also if you have user admininstration on a Windows server, it's probable that this look quite different in Unix setup.

The data itselt is ually no problem. Just a coversion and then it's fully accessible from Unix-SAS.

All I can say is good luck.

We had a number of issues upgrading and that was just win2003 to 2008 (64).... hopefully the process is a bit more tuned than when we performed it....

Would consider skipping 9.2 and going to 9.3, which will save you from doing the whole thing again when you move from 9.2 to 9.3

Yo may also get a better response by asking this in the deployment community forum
