I am a long time SAS programmer that is just beginning to explore Enterprise Guide.  I am running SAS 9.4 / Enterprise Guide 7.1 for windows with "no profile selected" (no SAS MetaServer).

I have my program files stored externally to my EG Project and am using Git for versioning control so that I can see the program history in my EG project.

My first question is: How do I modify my author name in SAS EG so that it appears in the program history.

For example: If I create the program file outside of EG, and commit the initial version of the file to my Git repository, the author name is that which is specified in Git.  But if I make modifications and commit from within EG, the changes are attributed to author PUBLIC with an email address of sas@sas.com.

Unfortunately, there is not currently a way to change the author and email address used for commits to external Git repositories from EG (which admittedly, makes it less desirable to commit from EG).

For our next release, we have already added Git "user name" and "user email" options in EG's Tools->Options->Program History to address this short-coming.

Just to tie up this loose end, "our next release" (EG 7.13) shipped last week (Nov. 22nd), so these new Git user name and email options are now available.
