My company recently installed SAS 9.2 with EG 4.3 (64 bit), and I have having trouble with Excel 2007 files. I need to be able to use a Libname statement to create Excel 2007 files, but I can only get it to work with Excel 2003. Here is the statement I am using.

LIBNAME EXCEL PCFILES PATH="&DATA.TEST.XLSX";

If I use .xls, it generates a 2003 file correctly. If I use .xlsx, it generates a 2003 file with the .xlsx extension, which of course, Excel won't open.

Can anyone tell me how to create a 2007 file? From EG4.3, you can't even export to Excel 2007. Is there a patch for this?

I would appreciate any help you can provide.

You can use the new custom task "Export Data to Microsoft Excel 2007/2010". Details are at http://blogs.sas.com/sasdummy/index.php?/archives/205-Export-to-Excel-20072010-using-SAS-Enterprise-....
