There is a new hotfix package for SAS Enterprise Guide 4.2 (A53003).

http://ftp.sas.com/techsup/download/hotfix/HF2/A53.html

To apply this hotfix:

- you must already have SAS Enterprise Guide 4.22, which is part of the SAS 9.2 Maintenance 2 release (http://support.sas.com/software/maintenance/index.html ). If your version is "4.2" or "4.21", the hotfix application won't apply the changes.

- you must have installed SAS Enterprise Guide 4.2 using the SAS software deployment wizard (SDW).

Is there a trick to applying hotfixes to Enterprise Guide V4.22 via a LAN install package?

Our desktop techo seems to think it's not possible, because the hotfix keeps asking for SASHOME, which is not being set. I'm currently reading the Maint Hotfix Tool PDF document.

Like another person here, I'm also wondering why V4.3 is coming so soon after V4.22. We need the later for testing V9.2 EBI...so it's going in regardless.

The V4.3 improvement seem to be cosmetic anyway. Whereas the March 2010 hotfix for V4.22 already conflicts with an earlier hotfix. I was hoping to avoid those kinds of headaches with V9.2.

Anyhow, thanks.

Did you try the "-sashome" option on the command line?

Re: the EG 4.3 vs. 4.22 question -- EG 4.3 has several significant new features for the SAS programmer, including a program editor with syntax completion, code formatter, and code analysis. EG 4.2 was originally released in March 2009, 4.22 (maintenance for 4.2) came in September 2009. EG 4.3 is scheduled for summertime 2010 -- we're polishing it up right now!

OK thanks.

From what I could see, the MIT documentation does not explain how to apply a hotfix to an existing Enterprise Guide installation...e.g. there is no Software Depot and no Base SAS for Windows on the PC, just EG.

The prompt is:

"To install maintenance, please enter the location of your SASHOME directory. This is the directory where you first installed SAS, and should contain a filename called sassw.config."

No sassw.config file exists under C:\Program Files\SAS. I found some info on this file at:

http://support.sas.com/resources/thirdpartysupport/v92/AlternateJRE.html

Anyway, we will contact Tech Support.
