The Maximum number of data sets can be used in MERGE ?

have a look at the usage note http://support.sas.com/kb/8/213.html which describes for SAS9 that data set sizes are being constrained by the environment in which SAS runs, not by the SAS system.
So may I ask again, how many datasets do you need to merge?
It would be interesting to hear also, why you would want to merge thousands or millions of data sets.
