Is there any way to prevent the log viewer from automatically popping up as soon as I open a code node?  I appreciate the information sometimes but it's starting to get annoying.

Try unchecking 'Show SAS output log'.

In 6.1, that is located under tools --> options --> project views (process flow).

Already unchecked...I can forcibly close the log view and it stays closed for that session..but when I start a new session it starts popping up again (even with the show sas output log unchecked)...

What exactly your are trying to get rid off? Use of project log instead of node log? A lot of tips

What I'm seeing is something called a "Log Summary".  It has a summary of errors, warnings and notes which would be useful if I were looking at a log.  Instead, it's showing up while I'm viewing the program tab.

That is the log summary that won't go away.  I can close the window but it keeps coming back.

If I'm reading the internal notes correctly, I believe that this behavior is better with a recent SAS EG 6.1m1 hotfix:

Hot Fixes for SAS Enterprise Guide 6.1_M1

The Log Summary window should "stay closed" when you close it, and not reopen every time.  There is no application option to set, but the window state should be persisted across EG sessions.  Try the latest hotfix and see.
